I was surprised to learn from TV program that there is a marching band competition in Japan and that is very popular. Teams of high school students were featured on the program. The performance while playing the instruments was so wonderful!
I am also very impressed with the high school marching bands in Japan. I know that they practice many hours every day and sacrifice a lot of their time while others are on vacation in Japan. I once asked an English student “why are these bands comprised of mostly girls?” Answer: “Brass band is not cool, so boys aren’t interested.” I disagree. I think it’s very cool!
Finally my grandson’s summer holiday finished .My daughter found that her older son has not finished his homework. There’s a lot of things on his desk piling up. He said” I don’t know where my homework is “My daughter got angry and said “How many times did I say to do your homework “ I felt sorry to hear that. I don’t think homework is necessary in summer holidays.
In Canada, kids have no homework during the summer holiday because it is between school years. 🙂
