スミス英会話大津校 Halloween Party 2015

Hello everyone! ご報告が遅れましたが、10月31日（土）、毎年恒例のHalloween Partyを開催しました！会場は、スミス英会話大津校の教室。
一ヶ月前頃から、少しずついつものクラスルームを、オレンジかぼちゃやJack-O-Lanternイラストのコースターなどで飾りつけて Halloweenスタイルに変身させました。当日は、Halloweenミュージックで雰囲気を盛り上げパーティ開始。今年は、エドワード、クリス、私を含め大人8名、そして私達の息子2人でした。今年始めてHalloweenを経験する生徒さんも、コスチュームに身を包み参加して下さいました。
会場に到着した皆さんには、”Trick or Treat!”という言葉を合図に、お菓子の入った袋を渡し、暫くお茶やジュースなどを飲みながら会話を楽しみました。そして、夜6時
半頃、エドワードが一生懸命運んで来たピザ を皆でいただきました。今年は、参加の子供が私たちの息子たちだけだったので、少し寂しかったですが、生徒さんが8ヶ月の息子に離乳食を食べさせて下さったり、4歳の息子とおもちゃで遊んで下さったりと、とてもアットホームで温かい雰囲気でした。
夕食後、毎年恒例の手作りビンゴをし、その後Jack-O-Lantern作 りをしました。今年も本物のJack-O-Lantern用オレンジかぼちゃを取り寄せました。4歳の息子と、Halloween初体験の生徒さんが一生懸命かぼちゃの中身を掻き出し、息子が顔を書き、エドワードがカービングししました。素晴らしい出来に、息子も大満足でした。
夜9時頃までお菓子を食べながらじゃんけんゲームをしたり
、Jack-o-lanternを作ったり、お喋りしたりと楽しい時間を過ごしました。パーティも終 わりの時間になり、キャンドルを灯したJack-o-lanternを眺めた後、記念撮影をしてから皆さんをお見送りしました。来年も、Jack-O-Lantern、ピザ、お菓子、皆の笑い声に囲ま
れて、楽しいHalloweenを過ごしたいと思います。
Thank you very much for joining us for this special event of the year! My first experience of celebrating Halloween was in Lancing, Michigan. I did home stay for a week there when I was 13 years old. My host family took me to a Halloween pumpkin farm and they let me pick my own pumpkin. That evening, the family and I curved our pumpkins. I didn’t know how to do it so my host sister showed me the process very slowly. I couldn’t speak
English at all at that time, so it must have been very difficult for my host sister to explain everything only by gestures. I remembered that her older brother curved very nice cat on his pumpkin and I was very impressed. I wasn’t there for the real Halloween, October 31st, but I could enjoy the unique atmosphere created by many Halloween decorations in the house and on the streets. I really appreciated that my host family let me curve the pumpkin with them even though it was too early.
I hope that our Halloween party allows our students, friends and families to enjoy this unique celebration in a comfortable setting. I wish more students at our school could enjoy this special night with us. Please do join us next year!
