Sagamihara Smith’s School of English One-Point Success

Smith’s School of English free one-point lesson often results in good conversation in my classes here in Sagamihara. Many students read it online every week and respond to the question. I enjoy their responses and always comment on what they say. Makes me happy!

Sometimes the one-point turns into a full conversation in class. When that happens, my students get the full benefit of that little bit of home study. Smith’s blogs often do the same. It is a very satisfying and fun part of my job as a language coach.

One student in particular, really takes advantage of the one-point lesson. She is always the first student from Sagamihara to write an online response. I comment, and then she comes to class well prepared with questions about her answer and my responses. She also enjoys reading other students’ comments throughout Japan. I believe she has also read every blog that we have written because she refers to them often in class! Amazing, motivated English language learner at Smith’s Sagamihara that takes full advantage of our system!

Yumiko takes her time throughout the week doing some research, and always presents her “study results” to me. It is always some well thought out and done “homework” on paper. I don’t assign “homework” to anyone (unless they ask), but always encourage them to read our one-point lessons and blogs. She goes above and beyond. Yumiko is just one of the reasons why I like doing what I do! What a pleasure it is to talk to her and help her improve!
