Surrounded by Some of the Best Restaurants in Sagamihara

Smith’s School of English Sagamihara is literally surrounded by some of the best restaurants in the city. The school is in a perfect location to get a meal between classes or at the end of my teaching day.

Directly below this school is “Kushikatsu Tanaka,” a well-known chain restaurant throughout Japan. Prices are cheap, and this skewered food is quite tasty. It is popular and very busy on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Just to the left of this building is “Torichu Sagami no Tei.” This was the first restaurant I went to when I opened my English school in Chuo-ku, Sagamihara.  On average I eat there about once a month. They have a huge menu, 4 or 5 chefs cooking everything from their famous deep fried chicken, to seafood, to great salads, and more. Reordering and staying as long as you want is no problem. I like to invite my students to join me in this place, especially in December when things start winding down for the year. This is my favorite restaurant in the area; and just a few steps away!

And last month (May 2023), “Japanese Cuisine Torashi” opened, just to the right of my school. I’ve been there once so far. The menu is loaded with delicious Japanese food, with a few western style dishes. I recommend the mixed sashimi dish! I’ll be back many times!

It was humbling for me to see how many local businesses near Sagamihara Station supported their opening, offering wonderful displays of flowers in front of the restaurant during opening week.

All this good food is just a few steps from Smith’s School of English, Sagamihara. I love it!
