It has already been 15 years since I met Chiharu and Edward.
I was internationally married to an American man and lived in Japan, but unfortunately my husband passed away due to illness. My husband was fluent in Japanese and I was not good at English, so my conversations with him were only in Japanese. My husband was my interpreter for conversations with my American family. After my husband passed away, I wanted to continue communicating with my American family, so I started going to Smith’s School of English Otsu.
I had my first lesson in 2008 and took a break for about three years, but resumed lessons in July last year. In the 10-odd years since I started learning English at Smith’s, many things have happened to me. My husband's death anniversary and a speech in English. University entrance exams, although I am a working adult. A conference presentation in English. Chiharu and Edward supported me in all these English-related studies. They always taught me English carefully, seriously and kindly.
It is no exaggeration to say that if I had not met Chiharu and Edward, I would not have been able to live after I lost my husband... My relationship with my family in the USA is such that, with the exception of the Covid-19 pandemic, I visit my family in the USA every year, alone. I have been able to communicate with them without any difficulty in conversation with some body language. Our good relationship continues. I am able to continue this relationship thanks to my attendance at Smith’s Otsu.
Now, Edward and Chiharu are my trusted and important friends. Thank you very much. I will continue to learn English at Smith’s Otsu from now on!

I’ve already learned English for 5 years at Smith’s . However I didn’t learn continuously.After marriage, I lived in Korea with my husband, so I couldn’t learn English. But I came back to Japan, I returned to Smith’s.It shows that Smith is attractive. Here I can enjoy English learning. I can relax. I’m not afraid to make a mistake. I can enjoy English conversation. This is the reason I can continue English lessons for such a long time.My English level? Um, may be the same as the teacher’s Japanese level.(But only God knows).

I have studied English for long time since student days. But I have only studied to read and write, but not conversation. 
So I made up my mind to study English conversation.

The reason of selecting this school is “monthly payment system”. In Japan many schools have only payment in a lump sum system. For me I can’t enter such a school because this cost is so high for me and big risk I may lose money when I give up.

The feature in this class is※family-oriented class. We discuss various things together by English. about hobby, ourselves live, love? so on. We have enjoyable time with laghing..
※We discuss as trigger educational goods.We talk real story by using question in text book..For example, Have you ever gone to Tokyo, Did you make a complaint last week? so on..

There are many occasions of your English conversation in this class.As a result we can become more familier with English, and can naturally speak EnglishFinally, I talk about teacher in this class.This teacher is very politely, friendly kindly and gentleman.You become to like him soon. And you can spend a school live with him, with laghing.

Already more than 2 years has passed since I entered Smith School of English.My history with English is very long, but even now I can’t read novels without help of dictionary and enjoy movies without help of caption. It’s one of a few reasons I decided to join this school.I’m not sure whether I’m getting good result on improving my English. But now, I’m enjoying not only the lesson but also the comfortable atmosphere surrounding it. I’ll continue to learn in this school as long as possible.

I have studied English in Smith’s English School for 4 years.I have 2 reasons I chose Smith’s English School.1. The teacher is friendly and cheerful. I always enjoy studying English with him.2. The charge is a monthly fee which is convenience for me.I studied at another English conversation school, they didn’t have Gessha style also they had many different teachers. So, it was difficult to get use to different teacher’s accent. And the first 15 minutes of the lesson was always the same, for example (Introductions).Since joining Smith’s, this never happens.

It has been one and a half years since I began to learn English conversation at Smith. It is the first time that I learn English conversation at school. I like the atmosphere of the class and enjoy the lessons here. The teacher always encourages me to speak English.When one year of my study here passed, I took TOEIC test for the first time and got better score than I had expected. This is because my listening comprehension is getting better. Yet it is hard to express in English what I would like to talk about, although the teacher enthusiastically helps me with the vocabulary and idioms etc. in the classes.I believe that if I keep practicing English here, I will get more proficiency in English. I have two goals for learning English conversation. One is to travel abroad by myself in the future. The other is to get higher score of TOEIC test. So, I keep in mind that“ Practice makes me get closer to my goals. “
