I didn't expect to have such a pleasant experience at the Ikoma Police Station when I lost my driver's licence. This story shows how helpful our local police can be.

I was shopping one day when my driver's licence slipped out of my pocket. The kind drugstore manager found it and took it to the police station. A few days later, the store staff told me where to find it.

I had to call the police station to check if they had my licence. You might think talking on the phone in Japanese is difficult. But the police officers were different! They spoke in clear, simple Japanese that made me feel comfortable.

The police told me my licence was being moved to the main Ikoma Police Station. Lucky for me, Smith School of English in Ikoma is in such a great spot! During my break between English classes, I jumped on my bicycle and rode over to get it.

The police officers greeted me with warm smiles. They didn't make me wait long. Getting my licence back was easy. I just had to sign a paper, and they handed it right back to me.
