The Ikoma Sugi Drugstore is located right across the street from my Smith School of English in Ikoma. I feel so lucky to have this store so conveniently located. I go there at least four times a week.

Ikoma Sugi has a water service. I love to get my water there. I use it for my coffee. In the summer I probably go there everyday to get water. It is tasty and free!
I also like to get the snack foods that they sell. I think it is better than convenience stores as the prices are very competitive. My standard of living has definitely improved because of this store.

Sometimes I get the old fashioned donuts and on other days I get the ice cream. But on the weekends my boys and I like to get potato chips there.
My English conversation students also visit the store. We sometimes talk about the products and good prices. One of my students told me about some of the drinks they carry. Then we had a nice conversation about the names of Japanese drinks, and how they sound in English. It was good fun.

I go often enough that the staff has learned my face. The other day, I was getting ice cream and the staff asked if I had my driver’s licence. I thought it was unusual to ask this but I checked, and sure enough it was not in my wallet!
It turned out they picked up a driver’s licence that was dropped on the floor. It was mine! On that occasion, I hadn’t been to the store for a few days. The store manager grew worried and took my driver’s licence to the police for safekeeping. I thought that was a wonderful example of a business caring for the customer!

I was able to retrieve my licence easily the next day because my Smith’s School of English is quite close to the Ikoma Police station.
