ピッコロシアター　スミス英会話塚口校近くの文化の宝

ピッコロシアター（兵庫県尼崎青少年創造劇場）はスミス英会話塚口校から自転車でたった5分の場所にあります。1978年にオープンし、尼崎市塚口にある歴史ある演劇専門の劇場で地元コミュニティにとっては重要な文化拠点です。尼崎エリアではすべての世代の人が演劇やコンサートからワークショップや地元イベントまで、舞台芸術を体験することができる場所として知られています。ただの劇場というだけでなく―創作性がコミュニティを一つにする場所なのです。
私は最近、打楽器のワークショップイベントに参加するためピッコロシアターを訪れる機会があったのですが、それは素晴らしい体験になりました。このワークショップはプロの打楽器奏者である塚口校の生徒様、トモコさんが主導で開催されました。彼女はスミス英会話塚口校で2年前から英会話を学んでいます。ワークショップに招待してくださり、私は喜んで参加しました。

イベントは始めから最後まですばらしいもので、参加した私たちはさまざまな種類の打楽器に触れることができました―見たことが楽器もありましたが、それ以外は初めて見る楽器でした。トモコさんの指導のもと、私たちはグループとしてリズムを打ち演奏しました、お互いの演奏をよく聞いてチームとして音楽を作るのです。音楽は、語学のように人々をつなぐコミュニケーションの形のひとつであると実感しました。

私たちはトモコさんと他音楽家たちによるミニコンサートも楽しみました、それは活気があり、表現力豊かで、刺激を受けました。私はとても素晴らしい時間を過ごし、そして塚
口校の生徒様が地域に彼女の才能を披露する姿を見て誇りに思いました。この素晴らしい体験をさせてくれたトモコさんや他の音楽家たちへ感謝しています。このような体験は塚口での生活がどれだけ豊かで活発的なものかを示しています。

Piccolo Theater (Hyogo Prefectural Amagasaki Youth Creative Theater) is located only five minutes from Smith’s School of English Tsukaguchi by bicycle. Opened in 1978, it is a historic performing arts center in Tsukaguchi, Amagasaki and an important cultural space for the local community. It is well known in the Amagasaki area as a place where people of all ages can experience the performing arts, from plays and concerts to workshops and local events. It’s not just a theater—it’s a place where creativity brings the community together.

 
I recently had the chance to visit Piccolo Theater to attend a percussion instrument workshop, and it was a fantastic experience. The workshop was led by one of my students, Tomoko, who is a professional percussionist. She has been studying English conversation at Smith’s School of English Tsukaguchi for the past two years. She kindly invited me to join the workshop, and I happily accepted. 

The event was wonderful from start to finish. Along with the other participants, I had the chance to try many different kinds of percussion instruments—some familiar, others completely new to me. Under Tomoko’s direction, we played rhythms together as a group, listening carefully to each other and creating music as a team. It was a great reminder that music, like language, is a form of communication that connects people.

We also enjoyed a mini concert performed by Tomoko and other musicians, which was energetic, expressive, and inspiring. I had a fantastic time and felt proud to see my student sharing her talent with the community. I thank Tomoko and the other musicians for this wonderful experience. Experiences like this show how rich and active life in Tsukaguchi can be.
