Helping a Student Prepare for Study Abroad in America
Hi, it’s Derek from Smith’s School of English Tsukaguchi. I earlier wrote about a student who I helped prepare for study abroad in Canada in Helping a Student Prepare for Study Abroad in Canada. Today, I’m going to write about a student who I helped prepare for study abroad in the USA. Let’s get started!
Mihiro
Years ago, a 15-year-old teenager called Mihiro joined Smith’s School of English Tsukaguchi to prepare for a 10-month stay in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. He was going to do a homestay as well as study English and play American football at a high school there. Although only 15 years old, Mihiro looked older than he was because he was big, even bigger than me!
Studying English at Smith’s School of English Tsukaguchi
Mihiro studied English at Smith’s School of English Tsukaguchi for about 7 months, coming once a week on Thursday nights. I did my best to teach him as much English as I could during our short time together to prepare him for living in the USA. He did a great job and his English improved. During this time, he also trained hard at his school’s American football practices and weight trained hard to get ready for his stay abroad.
Following Through with His Plan
After studying English at my English school in Tsukaguchi, Amagasaki, Mihiro followed through with his plan. After he returned to Japan, I met him by chance outside Hankyu Tsukaguchi Station while handing out flyers for Smith’s School of English Tsukaguchi. We spoke briefly in English, and I noticed that his English had improved! Great! I am happy that I was able to help him prepare for study abroad in the USA and that he followed through with his plan. Well done, Mihiro!
Living and Studying English Abroad
Living and studying English in an English-speaking country is definitely something students of English should do if they can and something I have often recommended to my students of English in Tsukaguchi. It allows them to learn English more quickly and also improve their English pronunciation if they stay abroad long enough. But while they are in Japan, it is a pleasure teaching them English at Smith’s School of English Tsukaguchi! I hope that you join us soon! (^.^)

今回はアメリカへ留学された生徒様の準備サポートをしたことについて書こうと思います。それでは始めましょう！
ミヒロさん
数年前、当時15歳だったミヒロさんがアメリカ、アリゾナ州のフェニックスへ10ヶ月間の留学準備のためスミス英会話塚口校へ入会されました。彼はホームステイをして英語を勉強し、高校でアメリカンフットボールをプレイする予定でした。まだ15歳でしたが彼はアメリカンフットボールをプレイしていて私よりも体格が良かったので実年齢よりも上に見えました。
スミス英会話塚口校で英語の勉強
ミヒロさんは留学前、塚口校に約7カ月、週に1度木曜日に通って英語を勉強しました。彼のアメリカ生活のため、短い間でしたが私はできる限りの英語を教えて共に準備をしました。彼は努力をして、英語が上達しました。この期間中、彼は学校でアメリカンフットボールの練習をして、さらにウェイトトレーニングも一生懸命にしていました。
彼の計画に沿って
塚口校で英語を勉強した後、ミヒロさんは計画通りに留学されました。スミス英会話塚口校のチラシを阪急塚口駅で配布していた時に、日本に帰国した後の彼に会いました。英語で簡単に会話をしたら、彼の英語が上達していることに気がつきました！素晴らしい！アメリカ留学準備のお手伝いができて、そして彼の計画通りに進めたことを嬉しく思います。ミヒロさんお疲れ様でした！
