Sagamihara City to Tokyo, Yokohama, and Shonan

Smith’s School of English Sagamihara is located just 3-4 minutes from JR Sagamihara Station. It is convenient for commuters and locals alike. The station itself is situated on the JR Yokohama Line, offering easy access to Yokohama, Tokyo, and Shonan (Kanagawa Prefecture’s most popular beach).

Getting to Tokyo is very easy and takes about 45 minutes via the JR Yokohama Line and Keio Line from Hashimoto Station. I enjoy going there on an occasional Monday and usually end up browsing the music stores, book stores, etc. It is a very large and busy city. The subway system is huge and can be confusing, but I always get to where I am going with little trouble.

Yokohama is probably my favorite city because I used to work there and got to know it quite well. It is an easy 40-minute train ride from JR Sagamihara Station. There are so many small jazz clubs and it isn’t hard to find live music any night of the week. Yokohama is also home to Japan’s largest Chinatown. It is a very interesting part of the city, especially during weekends. I go there a couple of times every year.

Getting to Shonan (Chigasaki) takes a bit longer because you need to use the JR Sagami Line, which has only one track. It is a very historical and local train line with Chigasaki being about 1 hour from Hashimoto Station. In the summer, surfers abound, and winter often offers a clear view of Mount Fuji.

With all this excitement situated around me, I find that Sagamihara is the perfect place to live!
