Beginners Can Relax at Smith's School of English Ikoma

At Smith's School of English Ikoma, we welcome first-time learners with free trial lessons. If you have questions about our monthly tuition courses, please don't hesitate to ask.

"I can't speak English at all." "I haven't studied in years." "I'm embarrassed." I hear these concerns all the time. But don't worry. Many of my students at the Ikoma school started exactly there.

I'm Les, the owner and teacher at Smith's School of English Ikoma. I've been teaching in Ikoma City since 1998. Over 25 years, I've worked with hundreds of beginners. I understand that taking the first step is the hardest part.

The Ikoma school is a small classroom. You won't get lost in a large class. Lessons are adjusted to each person's pace. If you don't understand something, ask as many times as you need. That's normal here.

My specialty is listening techniques. The biggest struggle for beginners is understanding native English speakers. That's why I focus on listening from the start. When you can understand what you hear, confidence follows.

When learning English, mistakes are unavoidable. In fact, mistakes are proof of progress. At the Ikoma school, you don't need to fear making mistakes. The trust between teacher and student creates a safe space to take risks.

Some of my long-term students could only say "Hello" when they started. Now they travel overseas without any trouble.
