この前の土曜日（2025年5月）スミス英会話相模原校へ向かう途中、淵野辺駅で下車して昼食を買い、鹿沼公園へ行くことにしました。淵野辺駅を出ると駅前にちよだ鮨を見つけました。

それは相模原のこの公園へ行くのに最高の日で、腰をおろし、昼食を食べて公園の静けさを楽しみました。鹿沼公園の池の前に座り、白鳥が泳いでいるのを見て、そしてたくさんの鯉が水面を泳いでいるのを見てスミス英会話相模原校のレッスン開始前にとてもリラックスした昼食を取ることができました。昼食のお寿司を食べた後まだ2時間の余裕があったので、鹿沼公園の周りを歩くことにしました。そして電車に乗る代わりにそのまま相模原駅まで歩くことにしました。

私はウォーキングして相模原市を探検するのが大好きです、なぜなら頻繁に今まで知らなかった新しいことに出会うからです。淵野辺駅から相模原駅までは約30分かかります。土曜日に歩くといくつかのラーメン屋やレストランが開店準備をしている場面に出くわします、店員たちがお店前の歩道を掃き掃除していたり、等。私はもう一度相模原や日本の清潔さに気付かされました。人々は清潔に保つことに誇を持っていて、私はそれに感心させられます。

スミス英会話相模原校の前に12：15頃到着し、リフレッシュできて相模原校での忙しい一日の準備に時間をたっぷり取ることができました。土曜日の相模原校レッスンには上級者の生徒様もいらっしゃるので、“相模原の公園”というトピックを紹介することにしました。生徒様は公園の豊富さについて、そして神奈川や東京の言ったことがある公園について教えてくれました。

2名の生徒様が相模原北公園について褒めていました。他の生徒様は、相模原で一番大きな相模原麻溝公園をおすすめしてくれました。私は何年も相模原麻溝公園に行っていて、ここが相模原で一番の公園だという彼女に同意です。相模原麻溝公園は広大で、誰でも楽しめて、さらには子供が小さな動物を触ったり抱いたりすることができるふれあい動物広場まであります。

スミス英会話相模原校での土曜日は、鹿沼公園で静かな昼食、相模原市中央区を歩き、素晴らしい相模原校の生徒様に囲まれて良い一日でした。これ以上望むものはありません。

Parks in Sagamihara City: Kanuma Park, Fuchinobe

Parks in Sagamihara City are plentiful. They come in all sizes and many are accessible without a car. One park in Sagamihara; Kanuma Park near Fuchinobe Station is one of my favorites. It takes about 3 minutes to walk there from the station.

Last Saturday (May 2025) on my way to Smith’s School of English Sagamihara I decided to get off the train at Fuchinobe Station, get some lunch, and take it to Kanuma Park. I exited and found Chiyoda Sushi in front of Fuchinobe Station.

It was a beautiful day to go to this park in Sagamihara, sit down, eat my lunch and enjoy the quietness of the park. Sitting in front of the pond at Kanuma Park, watching a couple of swans swimming, as well as many koi (carp) swimming near the surface proved to be a very relaxing lunch before opening my English school near Sagamihara Station. After my sushi lunch I still had about 2 hours of free time, so I took a walk around Kanuma Park, then decided to continue walking to Sagamihara Station instead of taking the train.

I love walking and exploring Sagamihara City because I often come across something that I have never seen. It takes about 30 minutes to walk from Fuchinobe Station to Sagamihara Station. Saturday’s walk took me past some small ramen shops and restaurants getting ready to open for the day, owners sweeping the sidewalks in front of their shops, etc. I was once again reminded of the cleanliness of Sagamihara and all of Japan. The citizens take pride in keeping the place clean. That is impressive to me.

I arrived at my English school in front of Sagamihara Station at about 12:15pm, feeling refreshed and giving myself plenty of time to prepare for a busy day at Smith’s School of English Sagamihara. I have a few higher-level English classes on Saturday, so I decided to introduce the topic of “Parks in Sagamihara.” My English students taught me a lot about the abundance of parks here, as well as other parks they had been to in Kanagawa and Tokyo.

Two of my students spoke highly about Sagamihara Kita Park in Hashimoto. Another English student recommended Sagamihara Asamizo Park, the largest park in Sagamihara. I have been there many times over the years, and I had to agree with her that it was the best park in Sagamihara. Sagamihara Asamizo Park is huge, and there is something there for everyone, even a petting zoo where children can touch and hold small animals.

Saturday was a good day at Smith’s School of English Sagamihara-  a nice, quiet lunch in Kanuma Park, a walk through Chuo-ku Sagamihara, and a day filled with wonderful English students. I couldn’t ask for more.
