スミス英会話、相模原校土曜日の英会話レッスンは英会話講師の私にとってもいつも楽しくておもしろいです。平日に練習・英会話スキルの向上をする時間がない生徒様が多いためこの日は忙しいです。彼らは土曜日に英会話レッスンを取ります。

相模原校の生徒様の多くはJR相模原駅近くには住んでいません。いくつかの生徒様は横浜線や相模線の橋本駅、矢部駅、淵野辺駅、相原駅、上溝駅など- ほとんどが相模原市内から短時間電車に乗って通われています。他には相模原市内の電車のアクセスがない、田名や津久井地区から車や自転車で通われています。そしてもちろん徒歩圏内に住まれている生徒様もおり、彼らにとってはスミス英会話相模原校で英会話を練習するのがとても便利でしょう。

English conversation classes in Sagamihara on Saturday at Smith’s School of English are always fun and interesting to me as an English teacher. It is a busy day because so many of my English students don’t have time to practice and develop their English skills during the week. So they take English lessons on Saturday.

Many of these Sagamihara English students don’t live in the area of Sagamihara Station. Some take a quick ride on the train from different stations on the Yokohama Line and the Sagami Line; coming from Hashimoto Station, Yabe Station, Fuchinobe Station, Aihara Station, and Kamimizo Station-  all in Sagamihara. Others drive or ride bicycles from areas in Sagamihara without train access, such as Tana and Tsukui Town. And some of course live within walking distance, making it very convenient for them to practice English conversation at Smith’s School of English. 

Smith’s School of English, Sagamihara is loaded with a variety of English conversation learners on Saturday. Currently, my first lesson slot is reserved and open to anyone that would like to try a free trial English lesson. I do that because I know many people can only do this on Saturday. My next English class is actually done online because this particular English student had to move away from Sagamihara a few years ago and wanted to continue taking lessons in our “man to man” (private English course). She now lives in Yokosuka, Kanagawa, which is a 2-hour drive from Sagamihara.

Much of my time on Saturday at Smith’s Sagamihara is spent with beginner and intermediate level English conversation learners. They all know each other and I really enjoy the energy within those classes. There are lots of laughs and lots of learning! Later, I always have a very satisfying experience with 3 high-level English students. All of them are fluent English speakers. Every week I offer them a new topic to discuss or some kind of task that keeps them speaking English together on their own. I listen, offer some input, and really don’t speak much. Finally, my last English student arrives. Mr. Omata has been taking “man to man” English lessons at Smith’s Sagamihara for nearly 5 years now. I work with him at his pace and he has made incredible progress over the years. He needs English for his job and travel. So Saturdays at Smith’s Sagamihara are always a great way to finish my week of helping people develop and gain confidence with English conversation.

And a very funny thing happened to me recently. I invited one of my English students to join me for dinner on Saturday at Kiwami Yakitori Bar near my English school in Sagamihara. I walked in on Friday afternoon to make a reservation. I said “tomorrow (Saturday) at 7PM, 2 people.” And that lovely woman responded with “hai, Smith san desu ne.” I hesitated, laughed a little, then said “yes.”
