TOEIC+ Lesson 41 (Harry’s Hotel in Singapore) VIDEO Script, Questions and Answers:

Script:

John: Hey Al. The wife and I just got back from Singapore. We had a great time there. We stayed in a new hotel called the Club Hotel that is the latest venture of an Indian-born man, Mohan Mulani who is well known for opening a chain of bars known as Harry’s.
Al: Oh yeah! I’ve heard of Harry’s. They are supposed to be very colourful and full of beery bonhomie or the feeling of good times! So how was the place? Did it have the same kind of feeling?
John: Actually No. There were only 22 rooms and the atmosphere was quite refreshing. The place was monochromatic and very modernistic. But what struck me most was how quiet the rooms were despite the din from the street and how light and airy the guest rooms and the hotel, in general, felt. They seem to have done a good job of soundproofing and cleverly placing the windows to maximize the natural light.
Al: Really? So they didn’t even have a good bar integral to the hotel? But they must have at least had a restaurant?
John: Al, I’m taken aback by your question. Of course they had two bars and a great main restaurant called Al Fresco which served delicious montaditos made using salmon and tortilla and four kinds of paella.
Al: You’re making me hungry and thirsty! Let’s go have a beer and some greasy french fries.
John: Ok, but you’re buying. I am dreading to see my next credit card bill with all the charges from the trip!
Al: Well, you only live once John! So enjoy it while you can!
